Basic Description in Ph. D. Thesis
A great part of the investigations presented in my Ph. D. Thesis are related to the understanding of the mechanism of thermal decomposition of FeSO4.H2O and Al2(SO4)3xH2O. Principal schemes have been developed for the proceeding reactions in different gaseous media - Ar, air, H2. Using the results of the thermal analysis, the emf-method and different physical methods as X-ray, Mossbauer spectroscopy, Electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, the formation of various intermediate compounds of the type FeOHSO4 and/or Fe2O(SO4)2, Al2O(SO4)2, has been proved. The kinetics of the thermal decomposition processes of FeSO4.H2O and Al2(SO4)3.xH2O under isothermal regime has also been studied and data are presented from the mathematical processing of the results.
Another part of my Ph. D. Thesis considered opportunities of obtaining different barrium ferrites such as BaFeO3, BaFeO4, BaFe12O19 during the thermal decomposition in the systems: FeSO4.H2O-BaO2, FeS2-BaO2, FeS2-FeSO4.H2O-BaO2. It has been established that the formation of ferrites depends on the ratio of the initial reagents, the temperature, the heating conditions and the partial pressures of the gaseous components, such as Oxygen, Water vapour and SO2/SO3.
The barrium ferrites were investigated by means of X-ray analysis, Mossbauer Spectroscopy and Electron spectroscopy.
A great part of the investigations are published in Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry and Thermochimica Acta.
